Homecoming Information
Greetings Brothers,
The active and alumni chapter is alive and well at Eastern Kentucky University and we want you to be a part of this special celebration. We hope that you have already received notice or have heard about Sigma Chi Delta’s 45th anniversary and Sigma Nu’s 40th Anniversary that we are so excited to announce for this year’s homecoming, October 16th and 17th, 2009. We have a weekend of activities planned for you and your family’s enjoyment. An outing with a cookout is slated for Friday afternoon. Following that, we will meet at a local sports bar and grill for an on your own dinner in the restaurant, and on your own drinks and provided appetizers in a private banquet hall afterwards. The following morning at 8 am, we will meet for coffee and donuts before our annual business meeting. Homecoming parade begins at 11 am. Immediately following, the active chapter will give a tour of the Sigma Nu floor in Dupree Hall. This is the first time in many years that an entire floor has been filled. It will give you an idea of how alive and strong the chapter is at EKU. They are delighted and so are we, and would like to share it with you. Tailgating and BBQ at noon, then the football game.
Wrapping up the evening will be a dinner and banquet. Expected to attend is presiding Regent, Joe Gillman, and High Councilman, Tony Marable. There will be a salute to each decade with pictures and a narration by past presidents. We are inducting two new Alumni Hall of Fame recipients this year. If you know of a worthy nominee, gather all information and submit it to Al Krueger at AKrueger@semprautilities.com . Deadline for nominations is September 1st. The Nomination form can now be submitted on line. Past inductees include, Al Krueger, Dave Trudell, Ron Pincinshaum, Larry Cleveland, Tom Conrad and John Wooten.
During the banquet, sweethearts will be recognized, and the active chapter’s new sweetheart will be officially announced. There will be a dance floor and music from the 60’s to the present suitable for dancing. We hope you can join us in this celebration of brotherhood, family and friends that we all share in Sigma Chi Delta and Sigma Nu fraternities.
Did you receive a mailing this year via postal mail? If not, please email Al Krueger to update your personal information. His email address is AKrueger@semprautilities.com .
We are trying to make this the biggest and best Homecoming in recent history. If you have been a regular attendee, make it a point to call or write other brothers and make it a goal to bring one brother that hasn’t been in a while. If you haven’t been to homecoming in a while or perhaps not at all, consider it this year. If you decide to attend, call a brother you would like to see again, and bring him along too. If you need help locating them, contact Al Krueger at AKrueger@semprautilities.com . Let’s talk it up this summer and make this the best ever Homecoming! See below for Al Krueger’s physical address and phone number.
In order to continue the thrive as one of the most active alumni associations of Sigma Nu, and our commitment to keeping brotherhood and in support of the active chapter, please be sure to pay your 2009 dues. We as the executive committee recognize that not everyone can give of their time as we have the opportunity to, but financial support allows us to keep the traditions and brotherhood alive and well for Sigma Nu at EKU.
Without your support to the alumni association, we would not be able to give scholarships, provide educational functions and help support the active chapter. We have the opportunity to endow a scholarship that was initiated by the active chapter a few years ago. We need to raise $6500 dollars to reach our goal of $10,000 endowment level. At that point, yearly scholarships can be granted to the active chapter. Please join us and unify our efforts. All contributions are tax deductible and information will be listed below.
Last year at our annual business meeting, we decided it was time to recognize those who pay their annual dues by recognizing level of support.
$25 – $99 Knight
$100 – $199 Rock
$200 or more White Rose
