Philanthropy

Theta Theta chapter is dedicated to helping its surrounding community. It’s important to our Brothers to provide service to our campus, our community, and other national organizations.

Theta Theta’s primary philanthropic event is Jail’n’Bail. Jail’n’Bail is a week long event where students can purchase “warrants” for a certain amounts of money to put their friends into “jail.” The Brothers then act as Marshals, serve the warrants, and place those individuals into jail. In order to get out of jail, those individuals have to raise double the amount that they were put into jail for. The result is having a large number of people in a fake jail, at one of the most heavily trafficked areas of EKU’s campus, and they’re all yelling for money so that they can get out. Everyone is a really good sport about it, and it is a blast. All of the proceeds benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Jail’n’Bail also involves the Jail-Bird pageant. In the pageant, one member of every sorority on campus competes to be Theta Theta’s Jail-Bird. The competition has multiple parts but the two main aspects are a change war that is set up at Jail’n’Bail and a talent competition held separately at the end of the week. Everyone has a great time, and the competitors always put on a great show. All of the proceeds from the Jail-Bird Pageant benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
